Night Waking
January 1, 2010

Last New Year, we were awake until 4am with a screaming week-old baby.  Last night, we were woken up by a teething, grumpy one-year-old.  Some things never change…

Friends of Joe’s have a little week-old baby girl, who shares David’s birthday.  We’re thinking of them tonight.

Snowball
December 29, 2009

I’m not usually permitted to take photos of Snowball.  Today, though, she was unfazed by the flash and played with Joe without noticing what I was doing.  It’s highly unusual for this grumpy, camera-shy little girl, anyway.

Sparkling Eyes
December 26, 2009

David LOVES Christmas.

I don’t usually shoot with a flash: I’d never been taught how and I hated the way the on-camera flash made the pictures look.  Today, my brother-in-law lent me a flashgun, and I realised what I’d been missing!  I’ve ordered one and I can’t WAIT for it to arrive!  (Canon Speedlite 430EX, if you’re interested.)

I’ve written more about today over at Barefoot in the Kitchen.

Birthday Boy
December 24, 2009

David turned one yesterday.  While I’ve been wrestling with the decision to only have one child, he’s been eating cake, opening presents, and generally having a wonderful time being spoiled.  (Yes, his birthday present is wrapped in Christmas paper.  No, he doesn’t care.  It RIPS!)

Settling In
December 23, 2009

We’ve brought Eric to Kent with us this time.  He’s settled in very well, and has taken charge of both seats on the sofa.

On The Phone
December 20, 2009

David’s current favourite game is to pretend to talk on the phone.  When he can’t get access to the real one, which he does with surprising ease, things like Duplo bricks have to suffice.

Baby Driver
December 16, 2009

Another from the weekend.  The little yellow car in the picture belonged to me when I was a toddler, and I love that David is old enough to use it now.  He loves it, too.

Photography Assistant
December 12, 2009

David loves helping me take photos!  He especially loves “helping” to put the lens cap back on when he’s had enough of being photographed.  I can’t wait to buy him his first camera!

My Boys
December 8, 2009

Taken at our favourite soft play centre in Banbury.  I’m not sure what I’ve done to deserve two such photogenic boys, but aren’t they wonderful?

Portrait of a Father
December 5, 2009

I took this photo of Joe while he was feeding David back in September, using a Canon 50mm fixed length lens, and came across it when I was looking for another picture in Aperture today.  I love the way the colours work together in this picture, the way that Joe looks down at David…  My boys are truly, truly awesome, and for that I am thankful.
